Inverness: Outlander and Scotland

  • Eden Court Bishops Road Inverness, Scotland, IV3 5SA United Kingdom (map)

Inspired by Scotland’s tumultuous history of ‘treachery, betrayal and murder’, the Outlander series has fired unprecedented global interest in Highland dress, Scottish history and Gaelic culture. In 2023, Glasgow University invited fans, and experts to come together – in a location for the television series – to explore the work in depth. Their presentations form the core of the landmark book Outlander and Scotland, discussing the storytelling, the characters, the real histories behind the fiction and the questions of gender and power it raises.

We are delighted to invite you to join us at Eden Court, Inverness on Saturday 28th November 2026 at 2.30pm, where editor Gillebrìde MacMillan and contributor Dr Alex Dold will join chair Alisha Fernandez Miranda to discuss the book and their experiences of ‘Outlander’, and to answer your questions.
